New Chef Joins the Rococo Team
Jonathan Groth is Rococo’s new chef de cuisine.
His resume cuts across the Oklahoma City restaurant business; he trained with Kurt Fleischfresser in the Coach House Apprenticeship Program before running the kitchen at The Lobby Cafe & Bar. He also taught culinary arts at Platt College and, most recently, was executive chef at Slaughter’s Hall and WSKY Lounge.
“Bruce [Rinehart, Rococo owner,] wants to get through the holidays and then start looking at the menu and making some decisions,” he said. In November, Rinehart told Oklahoma Gazette he plans to make big changes to the East Coast-style Italian and seafood restaurant’s menus in 2017.
“We’re excited to have him on board,” Rinehart said. “Right now, we’re just getting him in to learn what we do and how we do it. After the new year, he’ll play a role in blowing up the menus and having some fun.”
The new hire comes during a transition for the small restaurant group. Chef Josh Partain left in November, and Rinehart hopes to open a new concept, The Manhattan, early next year at 210 Park Ave., Suite 150. (OK Gazette Dec. 28 Food Briefs)

Starlight Supper for Downtown OKC Inc. with Tom Gore Vineyards
Tuesday, June 14th at Rococo Penn we hosted a very special Starlight Supper Wine Dinner and Give Back Night for Downtown OKC Inc. Chef Josh Partain presented a four course tasting menu along with wine pairings by Tracey Frederick from Constellation Brands. Tom Gore Vineyards was the featured winery at this year’s Starlight Supper in April. A portion of all sales will be donated to Downtown OKC Inc.
Downtown OKC, Inc. (DOKC) is a not-for-profit organization created in 2000 to manage and market the Business Improvement District. They serve as advocates, coordinators, facilitators and communicators for downtown revitalization.
Tom Gore Vineyards tells the story of Tom Gore — a second-generation grape farmer with a passion for coaxing vines—and a farmer’s role in crafting wines for great flavor. Fill your glass and get to know a farmer’s wine..
“Chef Partain served an elevated version of fajitas. He served his grilled skirt steak with his interpretation of Mexican mole sauce beneath it and chimichurri on top. His boss, Bruce Rinehart, was in attendance, offering a helping hand not only to Partain but all the chefs as they plated the food for serving. Partain works out of the kitchen at the original Rococo, 2824 N Pennsylvania Ave.”
That’s right, Rococo Restaurant & Fine Wine has been in OKC for 11 years now. Please join us for a special night of fun as we say Thank You for all the love and support over the years. Enjoy food samples, drink specials and live music from our friends BORN IN NOVEMBER FEATURING C-PLUS. This party gets better every year, so don’t miss this one. We love you OKC! 6:00-9:00pm.
Splurges – Wild Salmon
The top-shelf feature at Rococo is Executive Chef Jason Bustamante’s wild salmon (market price): salmon cooked in a bamboo steamer with an Asian glaze and served with mixed seasonal vegetables like snap peas, coriander, basil, shallots and carrots.
“Currently, we source a wild salmon farm off the coast of Scotland in a sustainable loch,” Bustamante said. “Fish farming has come a long way; the salmon eat what they would normally eat in the wild.”
